Konica Minolta Announces 2008-2009 College Basketball Signage Program

Konica Minolta), a leading provider of advanced imaging and networking technologies for the desktop to the print shop, today announced their collegiate sports marketing program will continue into the 2008-2009 basketball season with courtside signage at 24 top-ranked schools and universities that read like a who’s who of college basketball – as well across the U.S.A. in strategic areas that are key to the continued growth of the organization.  Below is the list of teams included in this year’s program, and in parentheses is their preseason ranking (if applicable):

Our 2008-2009 schedule also includes popular college basketball tournaments, including:

NIT Season Tip-Off:   Stephen Curry will lead last season’s Cinderella team, Davidson, against James Madison in the opening round of the NIT Season Tip-Off.  The Wildcats are one of seven teams from last season's NCAA tournament in the field of 16, which has become the traditional start of the college basketball season.  The bracket winners advance to the World’s Most Famous Arena – Madison Square Garden in NYC – with the semifinals on November 26th and the championship game on November. 28th.

Jimmy V Classic:   Four schools that made deep runs in the NCAA tournament will meet in the incredibly popular Jimmy V Classic doubleheader on December 9th at Madison Square Garden.  The 14th annual event is named in honor of the late North Carolina State coach Jim Valvano and benefits The V Foundation for Cancer Research.  West Virginia and Davidson will play at 7.00p EST.  Texas will play Villanova at 9.00p EST.  Both games will be shown on ESPN.

The Konica Minolta brand will also enjoy great exposure during the Big West Conference Tournament and NIT Postseason Tournament (which holds their final two rounds at Madison Square Garden).  Our strategic investment in sports marketing has proven to be an excellent vehicle for reaching our target audiences, and has helped to dramatically increase our brand awareness in the marketplace.
